Chemistry is vital in forensic science (used to solve crimes). With chemistry, forensic scientists demonstrate what happened on a molecular level. Chemical analysis can reveal how long ago a person died, what weapon was used, the kind of tape or rope used to tie someone up, etc. They also analyze drugs/controlled substances taken from scenes and people to identify and sometimes quantify these materials.
