What powers did the mayflower compact give the colonists

It was a compact document that established that the colonists would remain loyal subjects to King James, despite their need for self-governance. The colonists would create and enact “laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions, and offices…” for the good of the colony, and live by those laws. It simply bound the signers into a "Civil Body Politic" to pass "just and equal Laws
