Carolus Linnaeus or Carl von Linné (born in Älmhult, 23 May 1707 - died in Uppsala, 10 January 1778 at the age of 70) was a Swedish scientist who laid the foundation of biological nomenclature. He is known as "the father of modern taxonomy" and is also one of the fathers of modern ecology.
