Five years ago,

Daughter's age = X - 5

Father's age = 2 ( X - 5 ) = 2x - 10

Present age,

Daughter's age = X years

Father's age = 2x - 5 years

According to Question,

X + 2x - 5 = 55

or, 3x - 5 = 55

or, 3x = 55+5

or, 3x = 60

or, X = 60/3

X = 20

The present age of daughter is 20

Again,

present age of father= 2x - 5

= 2* 20 - 5

= 40 - 5

= 35
