All three parties were formed based on dissatisfaction with the existing political landscape. They were part of the 2nd party system in the United States that existed from about 1828 to 1854. the 2nd party system included a high level of voter interest as shown by election day turnouts, rallies, party-specific newspapers, and a high degree of loyalty to a chosen political party.
