let number of boys be 11x and girls be 9x.

A.T.Q 124 more boys than girls

equation=

11x = 9x + 124

11x- 9x = 124

2x = 124

x = 124/2 = 62

boys= 62 * 11 = 682

girls= 62 * 9 = 558

total = 558+682 = 1240 students
