Simple past tense

  • Affirmative

sub+v^2+obj

  • Negative

Sub+did not+v1+obj

  • Interrogative

Did+sub+v1+obj?

Wh+did+sub+v1+ obj?

  • Passive

obj+was/were+V3+by+sub

The simple past is used:

  • To denote completed/finished event or situation with a last time reference
  • To express past facts or generalizations or situations which are no longer true
  • A series of completed action in the past
  • Duration of any completed action Which starts and stops in the past.
  • With adverbs of time:

yesterday, ago, last week, last month, just now,in the past etc..

  • With when clause(before event)

Hope it helps

Good luck on your assignment
