Active

Active: Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet.

Active: His grandfather constantly criticized John.

Passive

Passive: John was constantly criticized by his grandfather.

Sometimes you must name the actor who performs the action because she/heit is not expressed in the passive sentence.
