Explanation:

In the figure attached,

AC is a ladder 10 feet long leaning against the wall.

Distance of it's one end from the wall = 6 feet

Let the ladder rests on the wall at the height = h feet

By applying Pythagoras theorem in ΔABC,

(Hypotenuse)² = (Leg 1)² + (Leg 2)²

AC² = AB² + BC²

(10)² = h² + 6²

h² = 100 - 36

h = √64

h = 8 feet

Therefore, one end of the ladder rests at 8 feet on the wall.
