If 3m+2n=16 and m−2n=0, then what is the value of m?

m= 4

Explanation:

3m +2n= 16 -----(1)

m -2n= 0 -----(2)

From (2):

m= 2n -----(3) (+2n on both sides)

subst. (3) into (1):

3(2n) +2n= 16

6n +2n= 16

8n= 16 (simplify)

n= 16 ÷8

n= 2

subst. n=2 into (3):

m= 2(2)

m= 4
