you know what the value of x is in terms of the second equation

so put that value into the first equation

so

-5(2y-15) + 4y = 3

-10y + 75 + 4y = 3

-6y + 75 = 3

-6y = -72

y = 12 (now we have the actual value of y, just substitute this into any of the first two original functions)

x = 2(12) - 15

x = 24 - 15

x = 9
