To find the missing number, we have to calculate the other side of the equal sign first, which is 16.
Next we calculate the other side which is 8. Now we get the number from the other side which is 16 and subtract 8 which equals 8. Our answer is 8.
To check we insert our answer where the question mark is, and if both sides are equal, then its correct.

Answer:

8

Explanation:

(5 + 3) + 8 = 5 + (3 + ? )

8 + 8 = 5 + (3+x)

16 = 5 +(3+x)

-5. -5

11 = 3+x

-3. -3

8 = x

Or just guess 8 because its addition and it doesn't matter in what they are ordered
