The formula for surface area of a cone is


As=\pi r(r+√(h^2+r^2))

r= radius

h= height


\pi=3.14 (in this instance)

*remember that radius =1/2 of a diameter AKA d

So our radius is:

r=20

our height is:

h=40

and
\pi is:

3.14

Lets use our formula now


As=3.14(20)(20+√(40^2+20^2) )\\As=4064.50137973 or about 4064.5
