This is because prior to this period, Rinderpest had affected the cattle ( secondary consumer ) and other grazing animals population.Therefore, grazing rate reduced and Weeds population increases and this lead to an increase in the intensity of wood fires. This ultimately leads to cascade effects on the Savannah community.

However, the vaccination programme, leads to eradication of the diseases, improved gazing,since more gazing animals survived to remove the weeds and therefore reduction in woody weeds for wildfires .
