Athena told her that her weaving was beautiful, only what she weaved what was earned herself her punishment. Arachne weaved images of the gods in an ungodly manner, and as Athena being a goddess decided it was unright. How could someone with beautiful weaving skills weave something with less beautiful meaning? She was to turn into an arachnid for the rest of her life to continue weaving.
