People living in Warsaw Pact countries were mostly against the Soviet Union, or at least, were not so happy to live under Soviet Control.

Most of people did not necessarily dislike socialism (many of them did, with good reasons), but specifically disliked the Soviet Control that existed over their lives. The countries were they lived were not really independent, were simply satellite nations of the Soviet Union.

For example, popular movements like the Prague Spring did not necessarily call for the end of socialism, but for reforms in government, in order to have more independence from the Soviets, and more transparency in government. Needless to say, the Prague Spring was violently suppressed by the Soviet Army.
