A circular flower bed is 24 m in diameter and has a circular sidewalk around it that is 4 m wide. Find the area of the sidewalk in square meters

Find the area of the flower bed first

πr² = (3.14)(12)² = 452.16

then area of the bigger circle (including the sidewalk)

πr² = (3.14)(16)² = 803.84

Subtract the two areas and that will give you the area of the sidewalk

803.84 - 452.16 = 351.68 m²
