X = -2/3 ; Y = -1

Explanation:

Y=3x+1-------------------(eqn1)

Y+5= -3(x-2)

Y+5= -3x + 2

Y= -3x+2-5

Y= -3x-3----------------(eqn2)

Equating (eqn1) =(eqn2)

3x + 1 = -3x - 3

3x + 3x = -1-3

6x = -4

X = -4/ 6 = -2/3

From eqn 1 Y = 3( -2/3) + 1 = -2 + 1 = -1

X = -2/3 ; Y = -1
