(use algebra) 1st no. a-6

2nd no. is a

larger no. is a, and twice a is (2a)

smaller no. is a-6, and 6 times that is 6a-36

2a+6a-36=28

8a-36=28 take 36 to the other side

8a=64

divide=8

1st no. is 8

2nd no.is 8-6=2
