China during the time had a communist government, and they supported the Communist regime that was (and still kind of is) leading North Korea. When the U.N. started to invade North Korea, they got to the point where China felt threatened by the allied forces near her border. She responded by sending millions of troops in to help their ally push back the U.N. back to the border.
