How did the role of women change during WWI and WWII?

Women's primary role as caregiver morphed during the war's. As hundreds of thousands of young men left the factories and fields women filled these positions. For the first time they were becoming the primary breadwinner. Social expectations began to change as well with married women entering factory positions instead of young single women.

Well, during WWI women often took up jobs in factories and other places where the men often worked however could not due to being sent off to war. However, when WWII came around, things started to regress. Women went back as house wives & were taught that they were only needed to give birth and take care of children.
