Explain why early settlers would have chosen to settle in the various locations of the cities on this map:

They were near the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, which would have made it good for agriculture. It was also in the Fertile Crescent.

They are all in the same general location, but it is just that some of the empires were smaller than others.
