Discussion Topic

In mathematics, we often discuss modeling. In
geometry, we model the physical world with
different shapes. In algebra, we model situations
of change and variability with functions.
Where else have you heard the term model? How
is that meaning of the word different from or the
same as the meaning we use in algebra?

Answer:

I've heard the term model on TV but it's a three-dimensional representation of a person or thing or of a proposed structure, typically on a smaller scale than the original.
