Part 1) the FIRST absolute value

Lets just ignore the absolute value line for a moment here,

We have -3+3

This is 0.

So what is the absolute value of 0? It’s 0. Basically anything in those 2 lines || is an absolute value and it will come out as a positive number. For example,

|-7| is 7

Absolute value of -7 is 7.

Now lets go back to your RSM problem.

So far we have

Part 2)

Simplify |(-3) - 3|

Again, ignore the | | for a moment.

What is -3-3? It’s -6.

Now what is the absolute value of -6? 6. So the answer is 6.
