6x + 8y = -22
y = -5
and show work please!!!!

Putting value of y

6x + 8(-5) = - 22

6x - 40 = - 22

6x = - 22 + 40

6x = 18

x = 18 / 6

x = 3

6x - 40 = -22
6x = 18
6x/6= 18/6
x = 3
