Answer:

Let x= the density of sugar maple wood

The equation is: 0.75= 0.5x + 0.41

The density of sugar maple wood is 0.68 g/cm.

I know this is right because I got it correct on Ed2020.

Hope i helped someone :)

Let x represent density of sugar maple wood.

We have been given that the density of oak wood is 0.41 more than half the density of sugar maple wood. So density of oak wood would be
(1)/(2)x+0.41.

We are also told that the density of oak wood is about 0.75
\frac{\text{g}}{\text{cm}^3}, so we will equate the density of oak tree with 0.75 as:

(1)/(2)x+0.41=0.75

Let us solve for x.

(1)/(2)x+0.41-0.41=0.75-0.41

(1)/(2)x=0.34

2\cdot (1)/(2)x=0.34\cdot 2

x=0.68

Therefore, the density of sugar maple wood is 0.68
\frac{\text{g}}{\text{cm}^3}.
