The events of 1949 had caused tensions to rise between the United States and The Soviet Union to some extent, because of the Yalta conference making the soviets have a large part of Germany, and the Soviets believed that they had helped in both the west and East front wars with their part in the attack on japan. However, the two countries were still able to coexist during this time quite well.
