Ben day outside his school in Cambridge and made a note of the colour of the first 100 cars that passed. 27 of the cars were red. In Britain there are around 35 million cars on the road. Use Ben’s findings to give an estimate of how many cars on the road are red.

Answer:9450,000

Explanation:

27/100=0.27

0.27*100=27%

27%*35000000=9450,000

Answer:

9450000 red cars

Explanation:

Out of 100 cars that passed, 27 of them where red.

The probability of red car to pass = 27/100

Probability of red car to pass = 0.27.

Now we are given a new value.

The value is 35 million cars.

Which is equal to 35000000.

We are asked to estimate the number of cars that will be red from Ben previous calculations.

The estimate = probability of red cars passing* number of cars in total

The estimate = 0.27 * 35000000

The estimate = 9450000

So we expect 9450000 red cars to pass
