Answer: There is a 5 in 20 chance that he will select a multiple of 4. This can also be represented as a percentage as in 25% because 5 out of 20 is the same as 25%

Step-by-step explanation: I got my answer by first figuring out all of the multiples of 4 in 20. The multiples of 4 are 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20. Since there are 5 different multiples that means there are 5 different slips of paper that he can choose that would fulfill the requirements of the given question out of the 20 slips of paper. I got my percentage because 5/20 is the same as 25/100 which is 25%

Answer:

1/4

Explanation:

Probability is essentially (# times a specific event occurs) / (# times any general event occurs).

Here, the "specific event" is selecting a multiple of four. The multiples of 4 from 1 to 20 are: 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 - there are 5 of these. So, the number of times the specific event can occur is 5.

The "general event" is selecting any number out of the 20. Since there are 20 numbers, then there are 20 ways that a general event occurs.

So, the probability is 5/20 = 1/4.
