Neil is currently twice the age of his brother when Neil was born. The sum of their ages will be 98 when Neil is as old as his brother's current age. How old are they?

Neil is 28yrs and his brother is 42yrs old

Explanation:

Let r = Neil's brother's age at birth time

2r = Neil's age now

This means that his brother's current age is 3r

So when Neil = 3r old

His brother = 4r old

3r + 4r = 98

7r = 98

r = 14

So their ages now

Neil's brother = 3*14= 42

Neil = 2*14= 28.
