Can someone just please explain why in PEMDAS for example: 6 + 9 ÷ 3 × 7. Why do you do the division (9/3) before the multiplication (3x7) even though the order is “M”, “D” in the acronym?

Because is division is before multiplication you have to do division even though the m is before d.
