Lionfish are native in the southern area of the pacific ocean. Lionfish eat other fish, invertebres, and mollusks. Coral reefs are important not only because they work as a habitat for many aquatic species, but also because they protect coast lines from wave action and tropical storms. Lionfish bring a negative affect to coral reefs, because they eat a large amount of the herbivores. The herbivores do not recognize them as a threat, leaving them helpess. The herbivores help control alagae growth, which is harmful to the coral if left unchecked.
