Answer:

a) 16.4

b) 20.0

Explanation:

Given Colin cricket scores:

16, 19, 30, 10, 21, 24, 5, 10, 29, 25

a) to calculate his mean score, we use the formula:

mean = (sum of scores)/(total number)

Therefore his mean will be:

= (16+19+30+10+21+24+5+10+29+25)/(10) = (189)/(10)

= 18.9

Colin's mean score is 18.9

b) Colin plays on sunday and gets another score of 31, his new cricket scores would be:

16, 19, 30, 10, 21, 24, 5, 10, 29, 25, 31

and his new number will be= 10+1=11

Therefore his new mean would be calculated as:

(16+19+30+10+21+24+5+10+29+25+31)/(11) = (220)/(11)

= 20.0

His new mean is 20.0

Answer:

Explanation:

The formula for calculating mean is

Mean = Sum of items(run scores)/ number of items(runs)

a) number of run scores = 10

Mean = (16 + 19 + 30 + 10 + 21 + 24 + 5 + 10 + 29 + 25)/10

Mean = 189/10 = 18.9

b) since Colin plays cricket again on Sunday, the number of runs will increase.

new number of run scores = 10 + 1 = 11

New sum of run scores = 189 + 31 = 220

New mean = 220/11 = 20
