We live in a democracy- a place where everyone is allowed a voice and opinion on how our country is run through a democratic vote. Why is protest important in a democracy? Come up with as many reasons as you can.

Well that’s not really the definition of a democracy. A democracy is defined by a type of government in which all ELIGIBLE members of the state can partake in decision making through the election of representatives. Having the ability to Dissent from a political decision, protest inadequate living standards, pushing for more economic justice, protesting against presidential actions etc raises public awareness, and warrants some type of change if those elected officials want to have people’s vote next time around.

Hope it helps.
