What made the iroquois government unique?

Within the Iroquois Nation each of the tribes had their own elected chiefs. Iroquois Natives lived in longhouses, long rectangular in shape. They had frames of wood, and were coated in bark. They were referred to as longhouses because they were very long-often 100 feet long.
