What did the Korean War have to do with the Soviet Union and the United

States? Why would these two countries get involved/care about the war in
Korea?

Think of it as a proxy war. Small region... But really, this was more so a police action. The Korea's were going to be united in a communist relationship, but the UN sent in troops and supplies to help push back NK.
