Being Cherokee myself I know that all through out the early history of America, settlers of all ethnic backgrounds were mistreating our people. America the lesser of the ones was still cruel, they removed us from the land of our ancestors that we lived on. they moved us to reservation after getting our leaders drunk and then making them agree to these agreements and contracts. Then on these reservations they would use the buffalo as target practice for their cavalry, this severely brought down buffalo population which we used for everything, we were known for wasting nothing and even using the bones. I would say the message that was trying to get across would be the fair treatment and payment for our suffering and loses.
