A term in the senate term is 6 years. The senate Senators, along with members of the House of Representatives, propose, and vote on federal legislation Senators provide advice and consent on executive nominations and treaties and conduct oversight of all branches of the federal government. (some of that is from wikipedia but i did put it in my own words)
