(x + 8)² - 7 = 0

(x + 8) 2 − 7 = 0

Since both equal zero, set them both equal to eachother and solve for x

(x + 8)² - 7 = (x + 8) 2 − 7

(x + 8)² = 2x + 16

(x + 8)(x + 8) = 2x + 16

x + 8 = x + 8

since both sides are equal, there are infinitely many solutions
