PLEASE HELP ! Imagine that you're flying in a plane. How do you know where to go? There aren't any signs floating in the air. How do pilots know where to land their planes?

Answer:

When clouds surround an airport, pilots have been able to find the path to the runway for decades by using an Instrument Landing System. As for how they know where to go, they follow GPS's and compasses. Pilots are trained how to read these things. They also use radio signals.

Answer:

When clouds surround an airport, pilots have been able to find the path to the runway for decades by using an Instrument Landing System, or ILS. Ground-based transmitters project one radio beam straight down the middle of the runway, and another angled up from the runway threshold at a gentle three degrees.

Step-by-step explanation:

All pilots have to do is follow the beams down to 200 feet above the ground, at which point they must be able to see the runway and its approach lights. ... Some airliners have an auto-land system, which automatically guides an airplane to the runway, allowing a landing in extremely limited visibility
