Cougars are the only predators that eat deer in a utah ecosystem. the deer eat many types of vegetation. what scenario is most likely to happen if cougars were to go extinct?

Btw this is for environmental science

If the cougar went extinct then deers will multiple fast and eat all the grass leaving Utah without vegetation and also hurting all the herbivores
