Another way that plant systems and tissues work together is in the transport of materials such as food, called translocation. Auxins are plant hormones produced in the parenchyma. For a plant to grow, certain auxins move through the phloem to the cells of the collenchyma ground tissue in the apical meristem. These auxins tell those cells that they need to divide.
