Nerve cells ( neurones )

The nervous system is made up of nerve cells called neurons. Most body cells are round but neurones are not. They are stretched out into long thin fibres that can be over a meter long. Nerve impulses travel along nerve fibre in only one direction. It's function is to carry nerve impulses.
