Why do you think there were so many advances in health care after world war 2

The conditions that took place during WW1 and WW2 with the soldiers and civilians were very horrible. People were literally living in filthy conditions and no one did anything about it. To prevent the outbreak of pandemics and to prevent the death of people new and improved measures in health care were needed.
