Explanation: Haight- Ashbury was the place to be in 1967. Hippies, celebrities, homeless people and many other eclectic individuals showed up. There is a famous photo of George Harrison of the Beatles at Haight-Ashbury. However, as the "Summer of Love" headed toward Fall, the overcrowded conditions, sanitation issues, disease, drug overdoses and deaths and the high rate of crime caused the hippies and others to leave the area.
