The temperature inside a freezer was –18 °C when the freezer was accidentally unplugged. After that, the temperature increased by 2 °C per hour. This situation can be modeled by an equation of the form y = mx + b , where x = the time in hours that the freezer was been unplugged and y = the temperature in degrees Celsius. What is the value of b in this equation?

Answer:

-18

Explanation:

b is where the line crosses the y-axis, or where x=0. Since it starts at -18, then that would be the b.
