Explanation:

The period of a curve is how long it takes for the curve to complete a full cycle. A normal sine curve takes 360 degrees to complete a full cycle. When you divide the X variable, the curve is enlonged, thus causing the period to increase.

When X is divided by 4, it's period is increased four-fold. 360 degrees multiplied by 4 gives you 1440 degrees (or 8pi radians), which is the period.
