Answer: a)total cost= 260.52

b) 0.38 per mile

c) $86.84 per person

Explanation:

Hi, we have to write an equation.

the total cost is equal to the sum of ; the product of the cost per day (79.95) and the number of days (d); the product of the cost per mile (0.38) and the number of miles; insurance costs (75) ; and the product of the cost per gallon(1.23) and the gallons used (g)

g= miles traveled / miles per gallon = 48/8 = 6

Total cost =79.89 d + 0.38 m+ 75 + 1.23 g

Where:

d= days

m = miles

g= gallons

Replacing with the values given:

Total cost = 79.95 (2) + 0.38 (48)+ 75 + 1.23 (48/8)

Total cost= 159.9+18.24+75+7.38

a)total cost= 260.52

b) 0.38 per mile (information on the question)

c) Cost per person= total cost / number of people.

260.52/3= $86.84 per person
