While Darwin was on the HMS Beagle, he write many journals. In those, he documented Finches from the Galapagos. He discovered that the finches have different beaks in different areas. The beaks were shaped to eat their food source in that specific area. This allowed him to develop ideas on evolution, and adaptations. He also done a similar study on tortoises with their necks. Hope this helps!
