Texans played an active role during the war in Europe, the Thirty-sixth Division was the first American division to invade Europe. They were also mobilized at Camp Bowie, in Brown County, on November 25 in 1940. That division trained in Texas (Also Louisiana and Florida) before landing in North Africa in April of 1943
